MOTOTRBO™ Capacity Max Network Design

MiningTelecoms Australia designs and delivers MOTOTRBO™ Capacity Max DMR Tier 3 trunked networks. This system is a DMR Tier III compliant trunking solution built for resilient, mission-critical communications across large and harsh mining environments, offering superior coverage and managed capacity.

Why Choose MOTOTRBO Capacity Max DMR Tier 3 for Mining?

  • DMR Tier III Compliance: Capacity Max is the MOTOTRBO system that is DMR Tier III compliant, ensuring high standards for voice quality and system topologies.
  • Managed Capacity and Efficiency: The system provides coverage and capacity with managed channel efficiency.
  • Controller-Based Intelligence: A dedicated Trunk Controller is required for this system topology, managing subscriber mobility and call routing.
  • Advanced Data Capabilities: MOTOTRBO is optimized for reliable data delivery and efficient channel utilization, supporting features like Location (GPS/iBeacon), Text Messaging, Telemetry I/O, and Raw Data services
  • Enhanced Job Ticket Service (EJTS): For work order management solutions, full display subscribers in Capacity Max systems are capable of using EJTS, which offers a richer set of features than legacy JTS

Our offering — design through support

Mining Vehicles with Radio Communications

What MiningTelecoms delivers:

  • System design & RF planning — coverage modelling for open-pit, access roads and camp networks.

  • Tier-2 → Tier-3 migration planning — phased or big-bang cutovers, compatibility checks and cutover risk mitigation. We plan frequency, licensing, training and cutover milestones. (We’ve delivered independent technical reviews and upgrade plans for Tier-2 → Tier-3 projects.)

  • Core network deployment — Implementation of the necessary infrastructure, including the Trunk Controller.
  • RF sites & simulcast — single channel base stations or simulcast site groups for continuous coverage across large pits and corridors.
  • Integration & interoperability — Integrating the MOTOTRBO system with other equipment, noting our multi-vendor expertise (Motorola, Tait, Kenwood, & Hytera).

  • Testing, training & O&M — Site acceptance testing and ongoing support. We provide professional tower maintenance and emergency callouts, enabling managed service agreements

Key features & benefits (at a glance)

  • Location Services (GPS/AVL): Outdoor location data (latitude, longitude, altitude, speed) is available through the Location Service, using LRRP/MBXML protocols.

  • Data Transport: Supports generic UDP/IP communications for Raw Data. The system also uses the MNIS Data Gateway to provide Wireline Data Server access for various services

  • Secure Communications: Digital voice/data encryption is supported.

  • Network Management Visibility: Network Management Solutions focus on the operation and monitoring of the system. Access to call event logging is available via the Remote Call Event Monitoring Service (RCEM) or Air Traffic Information Access (ATIA).

  • Alarms and Events Service: Logs system changes and major failures via the Capacity Max System Advisor.

FAQ

Q: What is the main difference between MOTOTRBO Capacity Max and MOTOTRBO Linked Capacity Plus?
A: Capacity Max is a DMR Tier III compliant trunking system that requires a controller (Trunk Controller) for managing efficiency, coverage, and capacity. Linked Capacity Plus (LCP) provides coverage and capacity through a multi-site network, but a controller is not required for system operation.

Q: Which MOTOTRBO radios work on Capacity Max networks?
A: Modern DMR radios from Motorola, Tait, and Kenwood are DMR standard compatible. Examples of compatible Motorola models include the R7, R5, ION, portables and DM4000 Series mobiles.

Q: How do applications access data in a Capacity Max system?
A: Applications connect to the MOTOTRBO infrastructure via an IP connection to the MNIS Data Gateway for Data Services, or the MNIS VRC Gateway for Console Services and some Network Services.
